What it is, how it came to be, and how you can try that free game now!
Each game goes through multiple iterations and versions as they get conceived, and AWAY: The Survival Series is no different.
Did you know that, at some point, AWAY was supposed to be a VR game where you controlled the bearded vulture that ended up being the game's main antagonist?
After considering switching to a flying squirrel, we decided on a sugar glider, thinking this choice would showcase how AWAY's changing world was devastated by climate change.

HOW IT CAME TO BE
While developing AWAY's, we created this demo to showcase the gliding mechanic. It was recently retrieved from our vault, and we decided to give it a look to see how it was holding up.
It's only a little while later, as we were gripping our controllers and keyboards, trying to complete it as fast and efficiently as we could, we realized: this was still so much fun. And challenging.
So, after a bit of tweaking to make it into the time trial challenge it was always meant to be, we've released it for all of you, as a fun little present!

THE GAMEPLAY
It's very simple: our sugar glider joey is famished. He wants to eat that dragonfly and is very motivated. The Terminator should take lessons from our joey. Really.
The sugar glider losing the dragonfly’s trail? Impossible. Of course, that handy yellow line helps a lot.
So you simply begin the game by pressing A or the Space bar to jump up and start gliding. Using the joystick or the arrows, you control the flight of the little marsupial, dodging obstacles as best as you can. Be careful, because any close encounter, whether with a tree, a rock, or a bear, will not end well for your sugar glider!
Flying through the air bubbles makes the sugar glider go faster!
There are three paths that get gradually harder, and you need to finish them as quickly as possible. If you catch the dragonfly, you get directly to the next level; who even needs to win a race if you get to eat your unfortunate opponent?
Once you reach the end of the very last, Hell level (verify term) path, you will get your score! And now quickly! Take a screenshot and share it on social media. Compare it to other players!
